I Always Wanted To Be A Singer and RecordingArtist
Feb 6, 2007

I started listening to music when I was a child. Sitting on the floor with my record player in a box, spinning 45's. I fell in love with music, lyrics and expressing feelings through singing. I sang all night and all day for 10+ years. I taught myself how to sing. I listened to Anita Baker, Michael McDonald, Barry White, The Jackson Five, Rene and Angela, Jean Carne, and the great 70's soft rock tunes. I knew when I grew up I wanted to be a singer and I am. But what a lot of people don't know is I had a horrible case of stage fright when I started which I had to work hard to overcome. I did over come it. It took years. That is why I am always so supportive of people following their dream and goals and walking through their fears, no matter what. There was a time I could not go on stage and sing in front of anybody, not even 1 person. Now I sing in front of thousands and I live for it. I moved to LA when I was 23 and made my first record singing backup for a group signed to capital called Colourblind. I was in their video. Then I met a record producer who flew me to Europe where I made my 2nd record, singing with a group called Def La Desh. Our fist single "Feel The Rhythm" was a top 20 hit. This group gave me a taste of what I longed for...success. I performed all over Holland, in France, in Miami, did music videos that aired on MTV, BET, VH1. I traveled in limos to gigs and the record company paid for it all. We visited radio stations and did drops. I loved these days. I spent 4 years near Amsterdam and sang my butt off. I did backing vocals with artists- Candy Dulfer, Tony Scott, 2 Bass Hit, Linda De Mol, Jeff Trachta, wrote songs, made lots of dance music one track "Feel Good" performed by Tatjana Simic and I went platinum in Scandinavia, another "Unforgiven" was top 30 in the Dutch Dance Charts. Then I moved back to Los Angeles where I collaborated with a producer on 1 song also titled "Feel The Rhythm" which became an instant club hit and reached #2 on the Power 106 radio play list. I started my own old R&B and blues band "Billy's Night Out" and we performed all over Los Angeles for 3 years. I did 4 Verizon commercials, some extra work in over 80 TV shows and sang with two booking agents on all kinds of high profile gigs and fund raisers. I took 3 years off from show business. To regroup, revitalize and regain my creative energy. During that time I wrote a book, a great screenplay and 2 children's books which I am trying to get published. Now I am back in front of the Mic. I am ready to sing. I have a lot to say and I can't wait to get my next few CDs out. I just recently finished 'AS I AM" a collection of 11 mid-tempo soundtrack style love ballads. And REAL LOVE a collection of 8 dance songs. I intend to market these to radio and music supervisors for film. I have 15 more songs written for next project and I am back in the studio this week. There have been some ups and downs. Deals that fell through, times I didn't want to hear my own voice, so tired of hearing it for awhile. But when you are an artist, the voice that calls you doesn't sleep long. I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the years. All the people who have loved my voice and demanded that I sing. And I want to thank all the artists who share their feelings, words, and music with the world. I love you artists the most. Wendy Alane Wright released her album, As I Am, a mixture of pop ballads and jazz with smooth, soulful vocals, jazz piano, sax, and moving string arrangements. It is a MUST-HAVE if you are looking for great singing, beautiful melodies and fantastic music. Wright previously worked with Def La Desh, Johnny Lang, Candy Dulfer, Wayne Brady, Billie Myers, Jeff Trachta, Tony Scott, Solomon Burke. Her hit “Feel The Rhythm†reached #20 and aired on BET, VH1 and MTV. Visit www.myspace.com/wendyalanewright
