new mix of 'starman', which Gary and myself have done as a tribute to Bowie with a deliberate 'unplugged' version of which we both thought could work.
bowie cover guitar ramsey
some people get by with a little understanding, some people get by with a whole lot more..
think back to when Gary Numan wrote and recorded 'Cars' in 1979 and if we don't think we've lost something we're crazy...but if we think it's coming back anytime soon then we are complete fools... can you still recall in the juke box hall when the music played and the world spun round to a brand new sound in those far off days.. in their blue suede shoes they would scream and shout as they sang the blues, let it all hang out.. rock and roll..

Story behind the song
do so many collabs with Gary and the guitar on this is brilliant - it's fun doing these Bowie covers for sure.
Lyrics
Didn't know what time it was The lights were low I leaned back on my radio Some cat was layin' down some rock 'n' roll "Lotta soul, " he said Then the loud sound did seem to fade Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase That was no DJ, that was hazy cosmic jive There's a starman waiting in the sky He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the sky He's told us not to blow it He knows it's all worthwhile He told me Let the children lose it Let the children use it Let all the children boogie ...lala la la lala la I had to phone someone So I picked on you Hey, that's far out, so you heard him too Switch on the TV, we may pick him up on channel two Look out your window, I can see his light If we can sparkle, he may land tonight Don't tell your papa or he'll get us locked up in fright There's a starman waiting in the sky ...he knows it's all worthwhile.. ...lala la la lala la

Oh Wow, this works so well as a simple acoustic 'unplugged' song. I'd never think of covering it this way. Great guitar sound. The pre-delay on the vocals gives it a fabulous sad and unworldly feel. Bowie's portrayal of the alien, Thomas Newton from the movie, The Man Who Fell To Earth, comes across so visually in this sad reflective version. Absolutely awesome.

Blown away by what you've done with this! You've managed to capture the nuances of Bowie's vocals, yet have added your own spin on the song & created a very trippy atmospheric version. Love the guitar work & the vocals are excellent!

Great work guy’s I like the eerie vibe on the vocals. Really nice acoustic guitar playing. Sounds a very intimate recording! Excellent!!

What a great laid back version of this iconic song! The guitar is great and carries all the Melodie’s perfectly. The vocals fit perfectly with this version . Great work !
