we decided to tackle 'day in the life' as we'd just done another psychedelic track ('the real thing') and thought let's just do it, lol!

This surely captures the songwriting style of Waters! Very nice mood with the strings, the halfway spoken lyrics and the acoustic guitar. Very nice listen!
