Tony, "Watergate Bay" popped into my mind tonight, so I stopped by for some aural/emotional indulgence. You are sounding terrific tonight. I love this arrangement - and your writing has never been better. Blessings, Johnny

Song: Anna
Tony, "Anna" had me grinning from ear to ear from the opening when your daughter joyfully calls Anna's name. Sweet composition, beautiful production, uplifting lyrics and very full, well-crafted vocal harmony arrangement. You have a tremendous gift to craft tender, loving lyrics that never sound syruppy or sentimental. Like the guitar break alot. Strings near the end are just perfect. The electric piano gives the whole track a strong, warm mid-range that I find hard to capture. EXCELLENT job on the drums. I am really jealous of that! This is really well done on many levels. You are so kind and unselfish to write a song for a friend's new baby. I really admire that about you. Congrats - 5 stars, all well-deserved!

Hi Tony, Came by and was listening to Pictures and Watergate Bay. Great jazz touches on Pictures and I hear a trace of Chicago. Excellent top to bottom. Also was listening to Watergate Bay. Very nice. I liked your melodic leads with the organ underneath. Good vocals on both songs. I think I saw Johnny mention about his Peppermint Bay and I hear traces of that as well and I love that song so that is a good thing. good work!

Song: In Malibu
Hi Tony Hearn, November 24, 2007. Love this one, my favorite SoundClick song that makes you get up and dance from Johnny Proctors. I thought it must have been an old Jan & Dean or something but No it is here. - Great! Up in Canada we do not have so much surfing and I still can not write that beach song. Maybe skating songs are more natural for me. My Skating On Rideau Ice got selected to go into the 2nd round of the Holiday Cover contest. Good Luck, Trick T.

Tony, I really like the jazzy textures in "Pictures". Great laidback groove. I agree on the Chicago nod. Cool vocal, tasty instrumentation and arrangement. Lyrics are cool too.

"Pictures" is really nice, Tony. Reminds me a bit of Chicago (great lead vocal) in the 70's. The song itself is well written, catchy, and the production is very professional. I especially like the chorus and the "ba ba baaa" vocal hooks. Very sophisticated song.

Tony: "WaterGate Bay" is really an achievment! This is near the top of your all-time best productions. Excellent arrangement that fully captures the sights, sounds, smells, moods and emotions of oceanside melancholy. The major 7th theme and choked guitar riffing is perfect. The middle 8 is a great change up (and if I may say so, reminds me a little bit of my own "Peppermint Bay"!) and your organ and string washes are a lovely and supportive embellishment. These are some of your best vocals, especially the full harmonies on the chorus. Excellent phrasing, with elegant pauses between the lead/solo parts throughout the arrangment. Your acapella outro definitley gets my attention (another JPish device that I stole from the BBs). I love how you pushed yourself to hit notes in the upper register of your natural range - it gets your voice to sound fuller, richer, more emotional. "All I need's my board and guitar" - to others that may be a surf pop cliche, but you are able to deliv

"Watergate Bay" is cool song Tony. Nice performance - can't put my finger on who it reminds me of... somebody from the 70's. I like the change at the bridge - and the harmonies there too! Nice touch to go a'cappela at the tag. Guitar solo fits perfectly. Makes me want to just lounge around at Watergate Bay...

Hi Tony (from a fellow Brit), Thanks for the visit and the kind words. I think you have that "Beach Boy" sound to a T. Love the harmonies and the arrangements. All the songs are great but especially liked "In Malibu". Take care, Ron

Hi Tony! Thanks for the great comments about 'our' version of "In Malibu". I had so much fun recording that one - and its a thrill to see it charting so well (highest position reached #2 in Pop rock). I wouldn't have to be in a rut to do a version of "Search for Summer" - its a superb song, I'm just overwhelmed by work, family and church right now. Hopefully things will slow down a bit over the summer. You are sounding great tonight! Johnny
