This Way Up is a 4 piece punk/emo band based in Faklkirk, Scotland.
back in the year 2001 (if you can remember then) hammy got a shity westfield guitar as a 15th birthday present, and persuaded bugsy into getting a shitty westfield bass, which he then did.
many moons later (when they could play a few shitty 3 chord punk covers) they started jammin in a local scout hall, when drummer no.1(reg from spoonguard) arrived. he sucked, and was promply swapped for god, who was shit hot!
we went through many names back in 2001, but drink and weed has fucked the memory so we cant remember them now, but eventualy settled on This Way Up, and started jammin out punk covers every sunday morning, just to piss the neighbours off!
after a while, stick was drafted in as a singer. he only lasted one gig, which was such a shambles, he left! back to 3...
then gillis arrived in summer 2003, and he didnt suck! he did, however, last only 2 gigs, and then moved to fuckin edinburgh for uni commitments. bollocks!! back to three, again...
then we had caroline, a singer synth player. she was hammys other half, and only lasted one practice as they broke up! back to three, again...
we took these failed attempts at expanding the band as a sign from the heavens to stay a fuckin 3 piece forever, so we did...
of course we play live, its the most amazing feeling ever up on the stage in front of everyone doing you stuff, it rules!
influenced by old rock from the 70s and also fast punk like nofx, and more recently by bands like hell is for heroes and finch
guitar, bass drums, mics, amps, the usual shit
