The Whole 9 grew up on the streets of Gardena, Los Angeles, Inglewood, and the Inland Empire, perfecting his style at each stop. The Whole 9 recalls, “At the age of 13 I began writing down rhythms and putting my flow together.” “In high school, I patterned my flow after a gang of MC’s like Canibus, Tupac, Eminem, Jadakiss, Snoop and Jay-Z.” “Then, I later began to create my own style and flow, putting my own West Coast spin on a combination and blend of their styles”. Growing up in Southern California “it wouldn’t be LA without Mexicans/Black Love Brown Pride and the sets again,” The Whole 9 quoted 2Pac to explain how he learned how to incorporate Spanish lines into his flow. “Ultimately, I want to bring the party back to the West Coast,” The Whole 9 explains. “It is not just about bangin your hood. It is about grabin that 4-0 from the store, chillin on the block, hollarin at bitches, and hittin the Hollywood clubs.” The Whole 9 successfully mixes the party tracks with the West Coast gritty street stories on his first project “The Cloud 9 Mixtape.”....
In his first public release, The Whole 9’s style and flow is unquestionably genius. “People have been telling me to put shit out for years, but I just wanted the flow to be immaculate.” The Whole 9 says about his first project.
