The Stamps Brothers

Les Stamps

I was born in New Castle, IN in 1937 and was raised with my three brothers by our maternal grandparents. They were very talented in music and made sure that we were exposed to it as much as possible. Our biological parents were also musically talented giving us quite an edge. I studied voice and music appreciation in high school and 1 year of college. All of us grew up singing in church and Sunday school. I spent most of my life in factory work and played music on the side. I had a lot of fun as well as making a few shekels to aid in raising my family.

David Stamps

Hi, I'm Dave Stamps born on March 29 1938 at home in Randolph county In. I have sent 4 years in the Air Force and 20 yrs. in the Indiana National Guard. I've spent most of my life in Electronic of one sort or another. I Moved into Managment for the last 8 years of my working years. I Spent 18 Months in Louisiana and lived and partied with the Cajuns. This was lots of fun and therefor the song Louisiana Beyue.I Write poetry on the spure of the moment about something that has happend to me or someone I know. On one occasion I had to reserch coal mining. This brought out the coal miners blues. A lot of our family worked coal mines in Tennessee. I generaly write the tune later and try to get a tune that matches the mood of the music. There has been a long line of music in our family. Our father played once with the carter family and had their own band later. A friend of my Fathers that I got to meet was Merle Travis. I learned a few Guitar tricks from him. My uncle Bevy selby also taught me some. But the one I would have liked to have known but was already gone was our great, great uncle (I believe) Hank G. Stamps who started the Stamps Quartet now known as the Stamps baxter Quartet.I still sing and still play and still write songs. God bless you all for listening to our CD and visiting our web site.

Ron Stamps

Born April 6, 1944, at New Castle, IN, hospital. Raised, mostly on Willowbanks farm near Losantville, IN, by grandparents, Louis and Grace Bookout.

The youngest of four boys, and four years younger than the next one, I played by myself most of the time. I made a lot of my own toys (not very well). A piece of wood with a chunk nailed to the top, front (for the cab) and a velveeta cheese box made a great grain truck in my sand pile by the garage.

Graduated from Union School corporation 1962. In 1965, joined the U.S. Army. After Basic Training and advanced training to work on helicopters (OH 13), joined the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Meade, MD. Since I could type, I immediately became the Troop Clerk for the Air Cavalry Troop. Served in Vietnam with the Cav (Blackhorse) for one year (November, 1967 November, 1968). Returned to Fort Leavenworth, KS, and reenlisted for Air Traffic Control. Released from active duty February 2, 1974, after a tour in Germany. After an 11 year break, joined the Indiana National Guard which I retired from at age 60.

Following my active duty years, went to college at I.U. East, Richmond, IN, on the GI Bill. Went to work at I.U. East as Veterans Coordinator. Eventually got a Bachelor of Science in General Studies. Attended IUPUI, Indianapolis, for a graduate certificate in Public Management. Eventually attended Indiana Wesleyan and received a Master of Science in Management.
