A young man tells his sweetheart he needs to leave her to join the Ukrainian Resistance (UPA). He needs reassurance of her love for him. He has doubts and asks whether she might forget him. She asks how can she forget someone who is ready to lay their life down for Ukraine. Not only will she wait for him, but will remain faithful to him forever whether he lives or dies. She is ready for "solitary sleep" forever if he does not return. This song is about both kinds of sacrifice, that of active service, and that of undying love and moral support.
