A series of scenes from my young days, with musical illustrations. If you grew up in England in the 'sixties, you'll groan in recognition. If not, you'll probably be baffled. Gilly is my sister - and every word IS true.

Yet another songwriter-guitarist-singer. In that order. Though I earn my living mostly playing bass.
I play bass with various bands in many genres, and also perform at mainly acoustic-style venues as a solo songwriter-guitarist-singer (in that order)

Story behind the song
News, Weather & Archers is a sort of mock-music-hall song. I wrote it in 2000-1, and, having performed it then probably half-a-dozen times in public, recently decided to revive it to play live. However, it really is a difficult song and I've given up that idea. The guitar part is a real finger-buster (especially some of the 'illustrations'), the tune changes all the time and hardly any of it repeats at all in eight minutes, then there are a LOT of words to remember and no way would I consider singing to a piece of paper. But the song means too much to me to let it die so I thought I'd put it up here, so that even if nobody ever listens to it, anybody can who wants to. This was a mini-disc recording directly from the PA, my Parker Fly guitar and voice recorded together. I've tried to raise and even-out the levels a little on the computer but the quality of the original is very weak and I'm afraid I've probably made it worse. Never mind, you can hear what the song is saying.
