blues boogie philadelphia rockabilly swing
Artist picture
Voodoo DeVille plays uptempo, good time blues, jump, boogie, and swing.
Voodoo DeVille is a six piece band working out of the Philadelphia area. The band was formed in 1998 by a group of like-minded guys who enjoyed the blues and enjoyed playing them even more. While Chicago blues is our starting point, we've ventured into jump, boogie woogie, early rock 'n roll, and rockabilly. We count many of the greats as our idols and influences but we don't feel bound to stick strictly to one style or one way of playing. If it's fun to play, then it's in our set list. It's never failed - when we have fun, our audience has fun. And that's why we do it.

Story behind the song
Inspired by something a friend said. I never said it -- that's my story and I'm sticking to it! (Did you hear that, honey?)
Lyrics
My baby wants me to stop runnin round, says its time for us to settle down; Shes been talkin bout her biological clock, well, shes in for a bit of a shock; Ive explained the natural order of biology, but she just wont listen to me; You see, a woman may have needs, but a man has got to have options. Whenever we go out, its the only thing she talks about; Says she dont want to live alone, wants me to make her a home; No matter what I say, I cant make her see, this is just how its supposed to be; You see, a woman may have needs, but a man has got to have options. Its true that I love you so, and I really dont want to go; But in spite of what you mean to me, I just got to have some flexibility; Baby, I have what you want but I cant give you all that you need. My baby wants me to stop runnin round, says its time for us to settle down; Shes been talkin bout her biological clock, well, shes in for a bit of a shock; Ive explained the natural order of biology, but she just wont listen to me; You see, a woman may have needs, but a man has got to have options.
