Voodoo DeVille plays uptempo, good time blues, jump, boogie, and swing.
Voodoo DeVille is a six piece band working out of the Philadelphia area. The band was formed in 1998 by a group of like-minded guys who enjoyed the blues and enjoyed playing them even more. While Chicago blues is our starting point, we've ventured into jump, boogie woogie, early rock 'n roll, and rockabilly. We count many of the greats as our idols and influences but we don't feel bound to stick strictly to one style or one way of playing. If it's fun to play, then it's in our set list. It's never failed - when we have fun, our audience has fun. And that's why we do it.

Story behind the song
A semi-autobiographical song about "blues trips" the band has taken with our wives.
Lyrics
Me and my baby had some problems, all we did was fuss and fight We knew something was missing, something just wasnt right So we went out on the road, driving just as fast as we can Aint never coming back til we find ourselves the Promised Land. I-95 headin south to the Tarheel state Had pork barbecue and hush puppies, Southern cooking was great But we didnt find salvation catching rays on the Hatteras sand So kept on goin, still lookin for the Promised Land. Headed west to Memphis, hoped that Graceland would hold a clue Stayed up late on Beale Street, ate some ribs at the Rendezvous But Elvis left the building and he didnt leave a plan So we kept on movin, still lookin for the Promised Land. Drove all the way Austin for the ghost of Stevie Ray All we found was his statue, didnt have much to say Lots to do on Sixth street, but it wasnt what we planned So we took off in the morning, still lookin for the Promised Land Headed to New Orleans, heard the blues were really hot Hurricanes at OBriens, man they nearly knocked us out We danced on the bed and got hit by the ceiling fan Things get a little crazy when youre lookin for the Promised Land. Me and my baby we dont argue, we dont ever fuss and fight Were still travelin on that road, still lookin day and night Still searchin for salvation, but were searchin hand in hand We found everything we need while were lookin for that Promised Land.
