minimalist rock duo consisting of piccolo bass guitar, vocals & drums playing songs for the brain.
3 feet up is a 2 piece band (a married couple!) from NC that pushes the boundaries of rock & pop by exploring unexpected & fresh perspectives. They also use odd instrumentation in their live shows - piccolo bass guitar & drums, sometimes just bass guitar & drums.

Story behind the song
This is kind of a document of my initial interest in Buddhism. When I started to "get it", it just rushed into my brain in a flood! I felt like my brain was overflowing, it was quite exciting. I realised that to live, you must go out there in the world, not sit there and watch "reality" on television. Musically, the groove was inspired by Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir", and the melody in the chorus was inspired by a sick little song sung by Gene Wilder in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" ("There's no Earthly way of knowing... Which direction we are going...").
Lyrics
I got a map I'll open it up Got a tank full of gas and an empty cup I'm gonna drive till the end of the road Till the ground beneath me starts to erode I got a thirst for the truth of it all Make my eyes go big and my mouth go small I can't know just what to do But it's right for me maybe not for you (Chorus) Overflowing Seeds are growing I am knowing Where I'm going But I don't know how to get there I've never known this amount of pain Seems as soon as I'm better it starts again I'm seeing there's big lessons to learn And the road always gives me another turn I soak it in whatever the wording The good, the bad, the ugly and disturbing You can't learn parked on the couch Cause it's just not living if you never say "ouch" (Chorus) Overflowing Seeds are growing I am knowing Where I'm going But I don't know how to get there (Refrain) No I don't know how to get there I don't know how to get there Can you show me how to get there I take it in, take it all in I take it in, take it all in, gimme some more I take it in, take it all in I take it in, take it all in, gimme some more I take it in, take it all in I take it in, take it all in, gimme some more I take it in, take it all in I take it in, take it all in, gimme some more (Chorus) Overflowing Seeds are growing I am knowing Where I'm going But I don't know how to get there
