Hello, I Love You, Goodbye
a ballad about accepting inevitable death of a loved one.
I write about everyday life with soft spiritual undertones. Well ok maybe just a little demented humour thrown in there.
Story behind the song
This songs explores the relationship between a son (who's been gone most of his adult life) and his mother (who's lying on her deathbed). Then he has to deal with the fact that she won't be around much longer and does he have time to tell her how he really feels.

Hello, I Love You, Goodbye
When I walked in there she lay,
She looked so frail my God she's grey.
If I walk on over just what do I say,
Should I wake her or just walk away.
Now she's waking she whispers my name,
She calls me over says you're not to blame.
I wish my kisses could ease all her pain,
How can I tell her that I'm not the same.
Chorus
Hello Momma it's been a while,
Since I've seen you with a smile.
I don't know why it's been so long,
That I've been away and left you alone.
Then she reached out and she took my hand,
I thought to myself just where do I stand.
She wouldn't listen to my demand,
So I had to leave and become my own man.
She said now honey her eyes filled with tears,
What can I say, we've both had our fears.
Many things happened through out those years,
All that matters is right now you're here.
Chorus
I love you momma it's been a while,
Since I've seen you with a smile.
I don't know why it's been so long,
That I've been away now you're almost gone.
Then her hand fell as she slipped away,
Please guide her gently Dear God I prey.
Chorus
I love you momma I say as I cry,
I can't believe that it's time for goobye.
I never told you that I felt I was wrong,
Now you've gone away and I'm all alone.
Goodbye momma I say as I cry,
You've spread your wings and learned how to fly.
If all those stories I've heard for so long,
Tell the truth then you're not alone.
Goodbye.
