Not so much a cover, more of a re-imagining of a slightly underplayed Beatles song. It is of course hidden away on side 4 of The Beatles 'White Album' just before revolution #9. I've added lots of other sounds to this 'production/arrangement'.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
I've thrown the kitchen sink at this one. Hope that you enjoy the long strange trip. credit to Christina Rossetti for the words of the poem, 'when I am dead my dearest...'
Lyrics
The King of Marigold was in the kitchen Cooking breakfast for the queen The queen was in the parlour Playing piano for the children of the king Cry baby cry Make your mother sigh She's old enough to know better So cry baby cry The king was in the garden Picking flowers for a friend who came to play The queen was in the kitchen Painting pictures for the children's holiday Cry baby cry Make your mother sigh She's old enough to know better So cry baby cry Can you take me back where I've been from can you take me back. Can you take me back where I've been from Rama can you take me back ... can you take me back. The duchess of Kircaldy always smiling And arriving late for tea The duke was having problems With a message at the local Bird and Bee Cry baby cry Make your mother sigh She's old enough to know better So cry baby cry Can you take me back where I've been from can you take me back. Can you take me back where I've been from Rama can you take me back ... can you take me back. she's old enough to know better so cry baby cry At twelve o'clock a meeting round the table For a seance in the dark With voices out of nowhere Put on specially by the children for a lark Cry baby cry Make your mother sigh She's old enough to know better So cry baby cry .... psychedelic weirdness ...

I love the original and always risky messing with the original recipe. Excellent job of taking this on a giving it a very original spin of your own. Good work

I like this arrangement & performance more than the original. I think you've added a real sparkle & touch of magic. To surpass George Martin & The Beatles is quite an achievement! The additions work perfectly to lift the song to a new level. Brilliant job!

I can’t remember this song at all so I listened to yours first as a new song to me .Great signature David psychedelic guitar sound and really good instrumentation . Very well performed and produced . Love your voice and sound samples in the outro and the door slamming shut at the end brilliant ! I then listened to the Beatles original and thought yeah typical Beatles vocal and sound etc but found the overall song a bit flat ( I don’t mean in pitch ) compared to yours ! Takes some doing making the Beatles sound a bit dull ! Excellent!

very cool and yeah what a gem of a song from JL and his sub continent excursion - you've done it justice for sure! great fx and arrangement, dig fx and what you've done with fusing 'can you take me back' btw (very white album)
