A slightly reflective melancholy song in a powerful pop rock setting. Lots of harmony vocals. I enjoyed recording those parts just as much as I did recording all the various guitar parts.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
My good friend Jesus Oldman, very kindly sent me some lyrics to use in any way I could. His gifts of wonderful lyrics have always inspired me to go just that little bit further in creating a song to feature them in. This song is no exception. I haven't used all of the lyrics that he sent but the lines that I have used tell a story of love, joy, regret and the realisation that sometimes real life sucks!
Lyrics
Strings And Tin (Oldman / Briggs (c) 2023. Acapella vocal intro: Oh yeah, they're trailing strings and tin, Oh yeah, they're trailing strings and tin. Guitar solo: Heaven forbid, that I should aspire, to open up my mouth, and let the truth come out. Most would rather wallow, in petty thoughts so shallow, 'cause isn't that now, what the world is all about. I'm out of my mind, I have been all this time, 'cause she was always yours, and never really mine. This professor is confessor, to everything gone wrong, it's certainly a drag, but it yields a lot of songs. but I'm lucky, oh yes I was lucky, that you where with me from time to time. I was lucky, oh yes, I was lucky, that we built some memories at the time. So there they go, watch them in a car, there they go, I'm sure that they'll go far. I could never win, see them trailing strings and tin. no I could never win, see them trailing strings and tin. Guitar solo: oh yeah, they're trailing strings and tin. oh yeah, they're trailing strings and tin. so there they go, watch them in a car, there they go, I'm sure that they'll go far. Spoken: " there they go, they're trailing strings and tin. Melancholy Organ Outro: ... fade out ...

I like the retro vibe and the guitar work, excellent solo! A very catchy radio-ready kind of song that would definitely stand the test of time.
