Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
I can't remember this song quite as well as I do their other hits such as... 'Daydream' and 'Summer In The City', but it's nonetheless a great Pop song. I'd quite forgotten just how many hit songs they had back in that wonderful golden era of Pop music
Lyrics
You Didn't Have to Be So Nice by John B Sebastian / Steve Boone (The Lovin' Spoonful) You didn't have to be so nice I would have liked you anyway If you had just looked once or twice And gone upon your quiet way Today I said the time was right for me to follow you I knew I'd find you in a day or two And it's true You came upon a quiet day (ooh) You simply seemed to take your place (ooh) I knew that it would be that way (ooh) The minute that I saw your face (ooh) And when we've had a few more days (when we've had a few more days) I wonder if I'll get to say (wonder if I'll get to say) You didn't have to be so nice (be so nice) I would have liked you anyway (would have liked) Today I said the time was right for me to follow you I knew I'd find you in a day or two And it's true You didn't have to be so nice (didn't have to be so nice) I would have liked you anyway (would have liked you anyway) If you had just looked once or twice (once or twice) And gone upon your quiet way (quiet way)

I love the spoonful. Really nice cover. Too bad about John s totally lost his voice I saw him playing solo accoustic back in the 80s when I worked at penn state. You are nailing this one

A favorite of mine, I played the heck out of their songs when I was a kid.

Excellent cover!! I think you've done a great job on the music and vocals. Production is first class too. I'd forgotten all about this song, I enjoyed re-visiting it after all these years. Excellent!!
