DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
Psalm 2 The Lord's Anointed King Why are the nations in uproar? The people imagine vain things? The rulers of earth have taken a stand To challenge the Anointed King What was their motivation? What did they hope to achieve? Enthroned in the heavens probing their hearts God laughs at the plans they concieve I have enthroned my King in Zion The mountain of my holiness Decreed You my Son forever Ask of me your inheritance I have become Your Father The nations are Yours to possess Rule with a rod of iron Destroy all their arrogance Kings of the earth pay attention Judges take heed and be warned Worship the Lord with fear in your heart For God is not one to be scorned Blessed are all who take refuge in Him
