Story behind the song
Lyrics were inspired by some guy talk a few years ago when everyone was being down on their significant others. Jeff wrote a set of lyrics and then rewrote them for the Autumn Suite. Lyrics were given to Dave who came up with the music and the concept of recycling part of discarded verse as a refrain. Dave did the initial drums and original 12-string acoustic and Jeff added a series of electric guitars (Zolla/Ovation 12-string) while Dave worked out the leads. Jeff did the track chopping to create the record skip and the crazy lead on the final Outro. Dave played his leads on a Gibson ES-335 through a Plexi patch.
Lyrics
1. Guy talk over Friday beers Talking about fun and regrets Conversation about a ball and chain I’m sorry I just can’t relate Even after ALL of these years She still carries my ring I won’t pretend – I’m not a lucky man 2. Sometimes we get what we deserve Thankful that’s not my curse She’s always been the one To walk with me into the setting sun I won’t subtract from her glory Every day of my life is her story 3.From that bar on the Erie shore How could I ever want for more? The business of life we forget to reflect What we’ve seen and where we’ve been
