Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Conceived and produced for the Clickers Club Dance challenge November 2017, this sort of fell off the guitar and I kind of liked it. Not quite sure what kind of dance this actually is - I could envisage a rather lumpen, farm-boot type of effort, performed by unsavoury villagers perhaps. It helps me with my physio exercises especially the "gluteal crab walk" (another potential title there...) The lead instrument is a Strat in banjocaster mode, and the bass sound is actually created by boinging a ruler off the edge of the desk. I was pleased with that because it always seems to sound in tune when in fact it's just a boing noise.

Wonderful dance ragtime tune, Steve. Your talented holds so many facets, in this case the style alone is a nice surprise and your playing is absolutely spot on. Very nice build up of a very catchy tune and top notch production. Great work!

Clearly one my favorites of the evening. The bluegrass banjo picking is fantastic. The melody is very catchy. Love the drum breaks. Yep, this one was so entertaining and enjoyable to listen to (3x). Dang...Dang...this is good.

This track is so cool Steve. I love the humor and great musicality exhibited. I hope you are well.
Too cool, all the chicken pickin' and bluesy bluegrass and that booming bass in a weird, wonderful mix. Can't help but grin.

Totally unexpected dance toon...and I love it! It leaves you no choice, you've just GOT to join in tapping your feet and clapping and hopping around. Oh...has it finished already? More!

For me this one is sounding so very American and country-like, nice banjo. But around 1:20 there is coming a change in atmosphere, getting something slapstick-like. I have to think of Laurel and Hardy, or silent movies in general. Around 1:45 the first country-theme is back. Everything is so joyful. Let's just dance and forget all troubles.

Well knock me down with an old banjo, if that aint the darndest thing I ever did hear. Cleverer than a tinwhistle-playing critter that can dance a jig on tippy toes. It's a jig and a rag and a bluegrass bag full of playfulness and wit in every bit of it. I like it. Them damp strings are just the thing ain't they.

Well I left my sh** kickers in the truck just in case someone created a tune like this that I could dance to - like a h*** down, or is it a hoedown - nice pickin' and I'm a grinnin' :D
