the sun had been over come by the dreary dusky darkness that was the city.
the buzzards were buzzing
the vulchers started to vulch.
all that was visible was lit by the dim hazy yellow globe on top of the ornate iron pole near the intersection of poverty and doom.
off in the mist the sirens wail
and the silent sounds of the weak screaming
and the power of the engines with the tires scorching the thin asphalt that is the one way avenue into the city.
the way out is after you pass through hell 
old brick mortar lines cracked and crumbly
people sleeping drunk and mumbly
losing their shoes to the unseen night things
somebody took the phone from the phone booth
and the book still hangs from the hook
the police can't be seen they are going by the book
the girls on the corner beckoning
their pimps with bats in the shadows of the alley
the motel will be full tonight
and before the morning come the truck will come and scrape up the casualties.
of the darkness. in the city
as the sun begins to cleave at at stubborn shadows the insects run for the cracks and crannies
and the din of the sirens fades back into the light.
hence the day is anew revives from it's slumber and begins to function again
the rules and regulations posted in plain view in the light of day
