New band name for my one man band. The ancient form of my first name.
My name is Holger Luth. I was about 15 years old, when I got my first guitar. Actually it belonged to an older friend, but the never played it, so he let me borrow it. I had been taking piano lessons earlier, but I hated it. The most fun I had with the piano, was to create my own little tunes. i was no good at repetitive rehearsing. It has been the same with my guitar playing. Many of my guitar playing friends, spent hours rehearsing technical stuff. I never had the patience for that, I just did what I thought sounded right. My mind was more directed towards songwriting, than towards being the guitar hero, though I did like to play neverending live solos, long enough to make the bass player make puking sounds and the drummer start throwing sticks at me... I played in both small and larger bands with up to 8-9 people, with violins, flutes and lots of other instruments, but I think my best time in a band, was playing in a three piece. It was in the aftermath of Police, British New Wave, the Danish Punk scene, Danish songwriters like C.V. Jorgensen and many more. You had to invent a lot of new "big" chords, in order to create a bigger sound, being the only guitarist ( and lead singer). Later I started listening a lot to bands like U2, The Cure, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk and most of all Peter Gabriel. Peter is like my guiding star. I have had the luck of seeing him in concert a couple of times in the recent years and even if he has gained a few pounds and is called "Papa Bear" by his bass player, he can still sing better than anyone I know. His voice is directly wired to his heart, it's like every word has its' own set of wings and flies out of his mouth, carrying an important message. Wish I could get anywhere near that! My musical taste has developed over the years and I try out a lot of different genres, out of curiosity and because I get inspired by other musicians, here on SC and by other friends in music. I have 3 sons, that are all engaged in music somehow and they have also inspired me a lot. They have a totally different take on the term "Musician", than I have and I find it inspiring and I am amazed at the multifaceted way they can tackle the tasks of a songwriter, producer and musician. I must admit, that my music sounds a little old fashioned compared to music of today, but what the heck.. I am from 1957, I grew up with Beatles, Stones, Kinks, The Who, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Bob Dylan.. need I say more?

Story behind the song
This song was created for the Clickers Club Psychedelic challenge. I had an idea of combining Indian influence with the sound of 1970's American rock. The lyrics is build around some keywords from the psychedelic/hippie era.
Lyrics
Harmony! Harmony and love is all we need. Harmony! We can make the world a better place. Happy times! We'll make peace on Earth and happy times! Happy times! We will fly so high and stop the bombs. Please make peace with all your inner demons Don't let them decide what you should do Together you and I can make a difference Please say you'll be there by my side Ooh - ooh -ooh... Love is stronger than the guns they're pointing at us now We will find a way to end all wars, I'm sure we can somehow Harmony! Harmony and love is all we need. Harmony! We can make the world a better place. Happy times! We'll make peace on Earth and happy times! Happy times! We will fly so high and stop the bombs.

Oh! It's a song with obvious Oriental influences and the atmosphere/aura expressed by the European man, but nevertheless is a very sincere and genuine music because of its soulful nature, and I think that this is the core of any good song or piece of music. Beautiful and warm both lead and backing vocal lines with appropriate support of the group with its ethnic (not only), so exotic, timbres made me remember a mantra called "Hare Krishna". :) And I think that this is the certain musical luck of yours, Holger, - I can hear the real harmony here! :)

Back to the "psychedelic" times, this one is pure gold Holger!! Splendid intro, excellent arrangement and melodies all through. I was impressed from the extraordinary clear and well mixed background vocals too, the icing on the cake was the "Hare Krishna"-kinda choir ( a hint to George Harrison? ).... wow, just perfect!!! It seems that you really had fun playing "psychedelic" once again... didn´t you? ;) Well done my talented friend, superior lyrics and message too, bravo!

This is a great song Holger you've captured the UK hippy sound of the 60's early 70's a very busy tune indeed so well produced too, instrumental and harmonies are spot on so well played loving theoutro. The message is also profound and apt for the world we are living in. Not enough stars for this.

Hej Holger, here's what I posted on the evening of the psychedelic music challenge on Clicker's Club... "love your tune 'Harmony'...sending out positive vibes. It has all the perfect ingredients...great tune and arrangement...Sitar, Tabla, Hare Krishnas, uplifting and optimistic lyrics. Oh yes, this is 'Scandanavian' Peace & Love at it's best. My favourite band, The Flower Kings would like this I'm sure. A totally fabulous song. Well, what else but perfection would we expect from you Holga? :) Very, very good. :)" I still think the same as I did then...Perfect...I'm saving this song to one of my Soundclick music stations.

Holger this is brilliant! The choice of instruments in perfect, love the vibe you've achieved here. Excellent arrangement and production, very cool guitar, and those vocals and harmonies are superb. Reminds of the 60's scene when everything seemed so full of hope and discovery.

So enjoyed this, psychedelic authenticity to the max. Great lyrics too, you captured the spirit of the turbulent 60s & earlier 70s eras to a T, beautiful work!

Yep, this is an awesome mix - the production is 1st class. Nice bass track and the vocals are great and as most have already commented, they are diverse elements within this track that pay homage to the 60s. Really like the Allman's Bros style guitar work. The sitar track is icing on the cake. This is an outstanding track Holger!

I like the instruments you are using. Is the sitar in between them. Listening it reminded me very much of the Beatles and in special George Harrison (his Indian and psychedelic influences). Very good sound, production and vocals. Enjoyed it very much.

Great psychedelic sergeant pepper style track, trippy tune Holgar, Love it.
The melody and phrasing reminds me of the music from the show The Mighty Boosh, which trust me is a compliment. Fantastic blend of sounds, lyrics, and good vibrations.
