My keyboard sequenced attempt at the Dave Brubeck classic
Instrumental Guitar Rock/Pop with a TWIST!! Plus some warped experimental Avant Garde side excursions for the musically adventurous!
Instrumental Guitar Rock/Pop with a "Twist"!
Story behind the song
Conceived March 2006. This is Take 1 Mix 1 recorded March 2006 Yamaha DGX 305 & Sony DTC-700
Bashing Brubeck in the head w/ BRASS BALLS, as I take on the old standard!!
This was all done & sequenced on a Yamaha DGX-305 keyboard, then recorded directly to a Sony DTC-700 DAT recorder, and was built on the preset "5/4" accompaniment style.
Did the piano accompaniment part first (QUITE a few different times as I kept blowing the progression of the bridge, over & over!!)
AND THEN.....speaking of "BLOWING" (...a NOT-SO "MIGHTY" Wind....!!)....
.....moved on to the sax part as the main melody was relatively painless, (though I went thru QUITE A FEW revisions, always doing it at a GLACIAL tempo!!)....
BUT THE BRIDGE MELODY......?
OH YEAH! Just listen to me "BLOW" it baby!!
Just like old Paul Desmond himself would nowadays...
....... IF HE WERE RESURRECTED FROM THE GRAVE AS A F***ING ZOMBIE, BAAUHHAHAHAHAHA...!!!
"BLOWING CHUNKS" is more LIKE IT!!
(But, it could've been worse; I could've been trying to play a REAL Saxophone!!! ;-o)
For this reason I had the sax parts on two different Melody Banks, which is why you hear both drop out the second bridge.
Then for the rest of the song, I play basically hit-or-miss harmony's on them!
Then I added an "Octave" Jazz Guitar ( playing mostly chords toward the beginning, then doing the "octave" thing on it about half way thru), then finished it off w/ some random drum/percussion fills up the yin-yang!!
