DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
Far From Their Princely Mansions Why do the rich and powerful boast? Why do they place so much trust in their wealth? Will all the money and power they possess Deliver their lives in the day of distress? Don't they know all men must die? All men must die, rich and poor alike Their glory depart like the mist without trace We all must succumb to the sentence of death With the tomb as our final resting place Who is the man death will elude? Who dares to give God a ranson? Deep in the earth they will make their abode Far from their, far from their princely mansions Far from their princely mansions This is the fate of the self reliant This is the end of the man who spurns God His wealth cannot save when his world comes apart His money won't help him to stand Don't they know all men must die? But God will deliver the soul of the poor The man who confides in Him He will redeem his life from decay And grant him a mansion in heaven Make no mistake, there's no exception Each man must keep his divine appointment Appointed, its appointed It's appointed for all men once to die Make no mistake, there's no exception We must prepare for the final judgement Don't they know all things must end?
