Recently, a restaurant in Weyburn Saskatchewan dismissed their staff and replaced them with foreign workers hired under the TFWP. A recent Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) report found that Saskatchewan is the fastest growing jurisdiction for temporary foreign workers in Canada. The Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) has become a first resort of employers looking to drive down wages. It is becoming increasingly clear that the TFWP no longer serves its original purpose.
