Dance-orientated indie songs. Think The Postal Service jamming with Trance producers.
The music I'm writing and producing at the moment is pretty much dance-orientated indie music. I grew up listening to indie and rock n roll, but i also had a rather big liking for trance and house music (the real stuff, not the cheesy ten-a-penny shit). I loved certain elements of the trance sound, like the huge soundscapes created by a lovely Roland Supersaw - that just knocked me backwards a bit in amazement. The first song that had this effect on me was Carte Blanche by Vera Cocha. I developed a huge love for Ferry Corsten and Vincent De Moor right there. I eventually got into more and more dance music, mainly Dutch Trance. At the same time, I was listening to a whole lot of indie and "emo" stuff. All these genres had a lot of sensitivity and I thought back to New Order who combined dance and indie effortlessly. I decided a few years later, after I had learned to produce dance music (self-taught) that this was the kind of thing I wanted to do.
I realised Trance wasn't usually encorporated with Indie, so I decided to make some nice trancey synths and mix them into indie beat-driven songs with electro basslines. I think it worked rather better than expected. By doing this I think I've created something others haven't really dared or tried to do.
