Late Never Felt So Early Late Never Felt So Early

Think New Order, think the Faint, think the Postal Service. Same kind of electronic indie feel.

Staying In Staying In

A sensitive pop song with an air of summer lazyness about its soundscape. Think Belle & Sebastian without the skintight tee shirts.

An account of a not so happy ending.

Indie

The music I'm writing and producing at the moment is pretty much dance-orientated indie music. I grew up listening to indie and rock n roll, but i also had a rather big liking for trance and house music (the real stuff, not the cheesy ten-a-penny shit). I loved certain elements of the trance sound, like the huge soundscapes created by a lovely Roland Supersaw - that just knocked me backwards a bit in amazement. The first song that had this effect on me was Carte Blanche by Vera Cocha. I developed a huge love for Ferry Corsten and Vincent De Moor right there. I eventually got into more and more dance music, mainly Dutch Trance. At the same time, I was listening to a whole lot of indie and "emo" stuff. All these genres had a lot of sensitivity and I thought back to New Order who combined dance and indie effortlessly. I decided a few years later, after I had learned to produce dance music (self-taught) that this was the kind of thing I wanted to do. I realised Trance wasn't usually encorporated with Indie, so I decided to make some nice trancey synths and mix them into indie beat-driven songs with electro basslines. I think it worked rather better than expected. By doing this I think I've created something others haven't really dared or tried to do.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

Your musical influences
Everything from New Order and The Postal Service to French House and Trance. I like alsorts of elements from different genres. I like the shuffling funk of french house, and I love the sincerity in folk music, so I'm pretty much influenced by everyone from Joni Mitchell to Ferry Corsten. A lot of my stuff is born out of experimenting though.
What equipment do you use?
Guitars by Crafter,Art Lutherie and Fender. Microphones by Shure. Recording Hardware: an EDIROL UR-80 USB Controller by Roland. Recording Software: Cubase SX with various plug-ins including: Pro 53, z3ta, junglist, absynth. Keyboards by Yamaha.
