Was originally gonna be called "Dial 8-0-8 For Hip Hop". A play on area code phone dialing and the machines used during the 80s Hip Hop Era. I did my research and found out that Schoolly D and crew actually used what's called a 909. I forgot the full name for both machines but they were a staple in how music was produced during the 80s and early 90s. Probably still used even today, but more so among the club pop genres of music. I wanted to pay a great deal of homage to Schoolly D by matching his delivery and bringing back hip hop being heard in a form that only "true" hip hop heads' remember. The drums is where it's at too. What drew me to the original was when P Diddy & the Bad Boy Family used it on the 2001 album 'The Saga Continues' for the track "If You Want This Money". I could've used additional sounds like they did, or even included their way of sampling as well, but I decide... 'Nah, let's go real old school. Let the echoes stay deep. The mic pick up gritty. The bass wrap around your head. And the lyrics in a simple and nonperfectionist delivery that ultimately makes them cool.
