Story behind the song
Written early in 2000, one of the first songs I wrote as a Christian. Rom 8 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Ga 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Lyrics
verse Looking to the Word of God I hear a loving call To all that look to faith and then to learn Trusting Him that gave us so much in His only Son our Savior It’s much to ask us in return lift To the one that led before me To the one that shows the way To a life that is eternal Won’t you look to Him each day chorus Father Abba Father, don’t forsake me For I’m looking to Your all forgiving hand Father Abba Father, take the broken child before you Lift 'em with your all forgiving hand verse Turning from our sinful ways, to purge, refine, and cast away Our eyes turned up to Jesus and His word Holding to each precept as were guided in His gratious love Our faith is strong, a testimony heard lift To the one that leads before us To the one that shows the way And the life that is eternal Won’t you call to Him this day repeat chorus bridge Hung apon a cross And upon the cross He died For all sin He paid in full Gone our guilt and shame And so salvation came repeat chorus
