Story behind the song
By the way, the only artificial part of this piece is the Alesis drum machine; everything else is 'real.'
There are two tracks of a Les Paul playing the main 'verse' riff, harmonized in fifths, an Essex B405 5-string bass, well, doing the bass part, and three tracks of the same Les Paul doing the harmonized slide melodies.
The piece itself developed from an idea which was being worked on for a completely different tune. It was in 7/8 and needed a stop-time middle section. That never really happened, but in trying to develope the part, this tune sorta developed on its own.
I think of it as being in 14/8 though the riff 'feels' more like 7/8.
