Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
A tale of swinging London told for the excellent Clickers Club psychedelic challenge, May 2017. Yeah Baby!
Lyrics
You're too old to get away with The language that you use And you shocked the latte circle With your controversial views Well you bent me to your will You're every inch the duchess of Dollis Hill And you're not the kind of girl You can refuse Well I'll be your equerry Arranging dignitaries for you to see But I've yet to be Your mystery man All dressed up in hand-me-downs You're always a la mode Like a walking advert for The Portobello Road What on earth do I have to be To get you to take me seriously? I worship you But you'd never know that it showed Oh I can be your Maitre D' Recommending dainties for your tea But I've yet to be Your mystery man Oh that's all right with me I'll play the roué quietly Content to be Your mystery man.

I grew up in London, so I get this totally. Brilliantly written and performed...you've nailed the characterization perfectly.
The loping fun riff, the effects and the energy imparted, this is a definite highlight of the challenge tuneage. Bravo!

Thumping riff, wide-spaced Quo guitars and an intro that halts for a piano and singer of intriguing lyrics. Even the bass player is having loads of fun here, and then there's those ladies at the back who just have to join in. Great arrangement.
Hell yeah rock on!!!!

Captured me from the 1st note, yet another beautifully crafted gem. Floored by your tone, playing, and memorable lyrics...the feel, the killer hook, everything......you continue to create my favorite music, love it!

Beautiful guitar tone and guitar work on that intro Steve. Outstanding vocals as usual - you are one of my favorite vocalist. What a great production. The track sounds awesome. Nice keys and outro as well. Just a masterful track from a master musician, producer, guitarist and vocalist. One of the few that does it all and does it all so well!

The guitar play, for example around 0:35, but coming back different times, reminds me very much of Status Quo's "Whatever You Want". Listening to your music is always a going back in time, guess your inspiration period is in the 70's or 80's. Like always it's high quality in sound, vocals and lyrics. Yes, nice one again!
