Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Not quite sure where this one came from - some unsavoury back alley of the subconscious I suppose. Anyway I liked the way it took a life of its own and went off in strange directions.
Lyrics
I'm ripped in pieces It's a new kind of fear Like hysteresis What's happening here? And it's one for the feature Where the ligature ends You used to be my creature Now we're just good friends. I met your mother In a short black veil We circled one another As the yacht set sail There was wine on the table Clothes on the floor Which the guests and the waiters Chose to ignore "And the heedless stars Only bind you to their will As they dream the days and the dark. Ever blind, yet dreaming still"

Ultra creative feel to this superb song, sounds like you explored a lot with the vocals and music track, once again a brilliant effort that I really enjoyed listening to !

Superb vocals! You have the knack of being able to draw people into your tracks and stir the curiosity. I was hooked from the start. Love the gear shift at around 1:45. Great job with the following piano part - dark and mysterious, then that brighter, complimentary keys/synth that comes in is pure genius. Great gear change later on as well. Brilliant writing and composition.

Fabulously clean crisp recording. Vocals nice and upfront in the mix. Love your guitar tone on this. As you yourself say, you don't know where this 'came from' . . . well, mine that seam if you can, this is great. Don't know if I'd catagorise it as 'Goth', rather 'Smivet Rock' ! :)
