Dogma Electronica was born 2007 in Liverpool England while I was absolving studies at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). Inspired by Cello teacher Steve Berry, I started to work on Productions were every single Sound was made with recorded sounds produced by the Cello. Starting to create and process Drum Sounds from Bass Drum, Snare Drum and Hi Hats, to low sub basses, pads and obviously Solo Cello. Why this name? Electro Acoustic Music produced under a Dogma specified below Do you play live? I play as Session Cellist for the band Patty Moon - Dogma Electronica has no live set yet. Band History: - The first project we have been absolving was the module Digital Recording. The task mainly was to record a band by using the recording facilities of LIPA Studio 1 and 2. Since Yasu and me had no own band but wanted to produce our own music, we asked the module leader if it was possible to create a production by only using our own samples. So what Yasu and I basically did was to start on sampling different instruments. We sampled an Acoustic Guitar (including slides and ghost notes) an Electric Bass (also with Slides and Ghost notes), a whole Piano (with all the 88 keys a recording of 20 minutes), my Cello and every drum and percussive instrument we could get hold of at LIPA. After we had mixed all recorded material we asked Josephine Jinder who was actually in mine and Yasu's Group for a MIDI file she had programmed and started to work on the production in terms of programming and mixing. The Dogma leading through this whole process was to not use any synthetic sound or sample that we did not record on our own. Further we where allowed use any FX trickery we could think of to tweak and change the material. Equipment used: Cubase SX3, Quad Core PC, Samson CO1 Studio Condenser Mic, these productions are recorded with an ART StudioV3 Preamp. I recently purchased the "Focusrite Saffire DSP24" Interface with two Preamps (my Yamaha PSR7000 is not used for Dogma Electronica purposes). Anything else...? The Dogma: 100% Dogma Electronica Certified Production means that in this production there is no other sound used then Sounds recorded from my Cello. Any processing of the Signal is allowed. at I have been working on this Beat for a while and I was struggling on finding a direction on where to go with it. Except from the Sounds based on Samples like the Orchestra the Guitar and the Drums I created all Sounds from scratch with wiring up different modules in Reason. At the state I send the file to my friend Wellington I had a collection of ideas together without a read line leading through the piece. After Wellington wrote down and recorded the first verse I developed an idea how to bring the production further. In this piece we started to work in a different way, since we were sending around the files and developing at the same time rather then me finishing the Beat and then Wellington writing. The next step was to make the break down-part after the first verse and produce the Hook. I bounced a bunch of loops, send them to Wellington and a couple of days later I had his recordings, which once again proved that it is possible to rhyme on my Beatz. which can help me to improve the production?! this file, I posted an Unmastered Version as WAVE-file, please let me know if you come up with something, I will always give full credits!

Story behind the Song. While I was still working on the track I sent earlier Versions to my freind . A couple of days later I received an e-mail including the Lyrics and a brand new MP3 with his Vocals. I was seriously touched as well as fazinated by his way of putting the rhymes together, making them fit to my Beat as if the Beat was written for the Lyrics. I had to take a while off of producing in my home studio since I had to focus on the first gigs with the band I started to play Cello for. A couple of weeks later I had the time to sit down and start mixing the vocals into my beat. It actually took quite a bit longer then I had expected, because Wellington's Lyrics inspired me to rearrange the track, to make some new string parts and work on the mix. After I froze all the instruments I started to just concentrate on the Vocals, inserting Effects and Dynamic Processing. There was quite a lot of versions untill I got to this final one and I need to mention my friend again who took his part in leading it closer to perfection. (with 320kb MP3 Download)
