Mrcorbett - Historical Improbable
Well born few too many moons ago, been writing songs since i was a kid and only got brave enough to sing them in public when i was old enough to not care what a racket i was making:)
I am a Beatles nut and always have been since i can remember, also huge fan of Pink Floyd / Syd Barrett , so you will hear a lot of both in my music. But i do listen to a variety of music and Kate Bush and Sparks are my current faves, just so different and clever. I do try and soak in everything i hear though and see what my mind jumble can come up with.
I first released my music online in 2007, on Cdbaby and all the major download sites, this album was called Nomany an album I still love to this day, despite the very ropey vocals which mar it and my rather limited production skills at that time. You have to start somewhere, and in the years since I have always tried to push myself harder to improve on all aspects of music and music production. Im a very quiet chap but immensely determined and resilient, every song is an adventure, and in the last eleven years I've been to some very strange places, including genres like trance and even a dabble in hip hop which thankfully I never let anyone hear!
I just never get bored with writing songs, despite the limited response they get. It took me eight years to get played on the local radio, but I never gave up, i must hold the record for rejected tracks on BBC Shropshire, but I got there in the end and they even played my song Rain in the Summertime for three weeks straight, which made the long wait all the more worth it!
I play live regularly at open mics, usually on my own, performing a mix of my own stuff and some choice covers which not many others do, like TV themes and Beatles classics like "a day in the life" and "Happiness is a warm gun", anything that challenges me and tickles the audience really. My highlights so far are playing at a couple of one day festival gigs to nearly 1000 pe

Take 2 EP
Feb 14, 2020
We songwriters are never usually fully satisfied with our finished songs. Sometimes a new and better arrangement might arrive through live performances or home doodling. There can only be one solution in such cases to quieten and pacify your nagging mind, Take 2! So today i've put out six of my Take 2's out in an EP on all the major streaming sites, here's the spotify link https://open.spotify.com/album/744sfIuepo51UyY3EwYpWz?si=wISZNQOcSRqVbsBYMKHN_Q All of these songs were initially on my first three albums and all needed a much more representative version, so here they are and this songwriter is now at peace with these old favourites at last. I hope you'll give them a spin, and if you're even braver, listen to the originals, some here on Soundclick, all on the streamers.

Writers Block
Sep 13, 2018
Writers Block Argghhh that dreaded moment when your mind goes blankety blank, words disappear into the abyss, ideas from a once fruitful reservoir have all dried up, what to do, what to do! My top tips to recover and forget it ever happened are to keep your ears open, and also keep writing! I know that sounds strange but yes keep writing, it doesn't have to be great or interesting, but do it! Also read a newspaper or watch a bit of telly, go and talk to friends and family, or better still go for a long walk. All of the time keeping those ears open, you will be amazed at the amount of time I have found something to write about by doing this, by hearing something someone has said, some strange phrase that has pricked up my substantial ear lobes!. There have been sometimes when I've had to rebel against my brain to unpark my malaise and get out and about, fresh air really can lead to fresh ideas. Also it can lead to the unexpected, every journey is different, even if you're feeling all Bill Murray, then think about how he kept his mind active in the endless repeats of "Groundhog Day", always finding new ways to amuse and improve and to escape, that's how I see writers block and writing in general, keep on travelling with an open mind and the rivers of rhyme will flow readily. Another favourite technique to kick-start myself especially musically, is to revisit the basics, the songs you love the most, the bands and singers who inspired you in the first place. Every time you do this though, again take it off into a new direction, whether by covering one of the songs and seeing how it relates so well with you or looking for connections with that music by other artists that you can explore. It's all about keeping an open mind, if you feel like you can never write again, then write down that phrase and then make it rhyme!, or write a little tale of the woe of your predicament. If you are creative then you really are a very lucky person, and always be proud of that. Also know that it can never really leave you, you have a friend for life, even if sometimes it can prove a reluctant one! Taken from my book "The Warren Jenks Songbook Volume One (2004 -2010) Available to buy from http://amazon/author/warrenjenks If you ever want to know what's it like to live the life of a prolific songwriter, this book is for you! "SYDS SONG PT 1"
It is good to know that there are people who can still see and appreciate, inspite of great losses, the true hearitage and roots of what we have and what we are.
The lyrics on 'EMINOR with no name"' are superb.
