Walt Cronin came into being a serious songwriter around the age of 50. His life experiences as a medic in Vietnam and somewhat nomadic life afterwards are the source of many of the folk songs he has written. Writing about societal issues as well as love songs and some light-hearted fare make up the content of what will be his 3rd CD to be released in early 2010. Quote: "Tender and introspective songs with the kind of realness and authenticity that is becoming quite rare."

New Reviews In for California I Gotta Run (2010)

My name is Walt Cronin. I'm a singer songwriter (but not a performer) that writes Americana, folk, folk-rock and country-folk. I was a medic in Vietnam, so many of my songs tell stories about those experiences and the aftermath of a life disrupted. A lifetime of relationships with some whimsical and philosophical stories helps round out my repertoire. Folk music history wouldn't be replete without addressing social injustice and hopes of peace in a world torn apart by our difficult natures. Life is a journey so I'm just trying to read my road map as I go along like everybody else. I was raised in Illinois but lived half my life in California. I'm going home which sums up the title of my 3rd CD: California I Gotta Run. I Started out with Zander Schloss of The Circle Jerks and am solo now. Thank you for listening, My Best, Walt Cronin http://www.thegousters.com http://airplaydirect.com/music/waltcronin/ songs, lyrics ( may hear music here ) Walt Cronin - California - I Gotta Run (2010) By Bruce Greenberg - The Promise Live http://thepromiselive.blogspot.com/ On his third release Walt continues his folk/Americana singing/songwriting. A storyteller like Kris Kristoffersen, this is an album about being on the road and pursuing dreams. Nice job. http://www.halfhearteddude.com/tag/walt-cronin/ Review By: Any Major Dude With Half A Heart One of my favorite songs of the last decade was 2005’s A Desperate Cry for Help by the sadly rather obscure and now disbanded alt-country group The Beauty Shop. Walt Cronin’s third album reminds me a lot of the Beauty Shop, right down to his gravelly baritone and lovely Americana arrangements. Already in his 50s this post so far seems to specialize in grey follicles Cronin’s voice and sound reflect the experience of life, wistfully and defiantly. “I would never count the days of my life, but I’ll always let the dawn greet my eyes,” the former medic in the Vietnam war sings in Shining Through, one of several sweet love songs on this most appealing set.

Hi Walt, nice to meet you. Greetings to California (or Mannheim).
Thanks Tolgar That's a beautiful fountain in Mannheim that I saw. We also visited the Reeperbahn in Hamburg to see where the Beatles played before becoming famous. Best, Walt
