A Spiritual affinity sent from above Trust your soul and your feelings to sense true love Not seen nor heard and often unrecognized Do not insist on seeing it with your eyes Souls meet on a level senses can't define And it can't be explained by merely the mind Certain people meet and they feel a reaction Chemistry alone is only attraction The spiritual affinity is a must Sexual attraction alone is pure lust It's when you've found both that true love's come to call Friendship and desire, true love has it all. The Shore If memory has a center, let it be here Unless, that is, a fever takes it, the brain. A hole the size of who we were, or worse, Who we would be, who we are now, now Ask the man inside his small bay window. Not that his wife is a stranger, Far from it. If ever she leaves his room a moment, She returns to him as the long lost face, To a happiness he forgot he had. And so the art of moving forward, loss Over loss in waves against the shore. Just listen to his music, the unlikely Way it shivers through him, his language, Worn to something crystal in the current. See his eyes close as his hands begin, A face afloat at the black of his piano. The deeper he goes, the darker the gloss, The more sand he lets fall through the hour. Whatever binds ones measure to another, It binds the damage the way air binds objects. In a room, until one day his wife stops, Transfixed above a sink of dishes, to say, How strange, I was just about to do that. A glass chimes in her hand. Then she rinses, Mindful, places it on it's mouth to dry. Each one listening for the next to speak. D. Adams

You Ask Of Beauty "So, what is beauty?", you have asked. It could be many things. For instance, something it could be, The notes a song bird sings; A flower's bloom; an eagle's flight; The fragrance of a rose; The way that from a tiny seed That lovely flower grows. It too can be a growing child, A sparkle in the eyes Of infants learning how to walk Then reaching for blue skies. It is a feeling that's within We get when we "reach out..." To find another piece of us We can't become without. A tender touch from one we love, A mother's warm embrace, A welcome smile and tears of joy Like diamonds on a face. The drink of water from a stream And breathing in fresh air. Our 'Mother's' other gifts to us For showing that we care. Then beauty is to feel again After a tragedy That seemed to leave a hole inside We felt we could not flee. Because beauty is in "the eyes..." I could list many more. But all will have the same effect; It makes our spirit soar. D.Adams
