My Expanding Universe My Expanding Universe
This one has a bebop type chord melody. A little different approach for me. Verse bassline is played on the Godin Glissentar tuned to Open C. Very funky. Sounds like fretless bass. Nice groove.
Alibaba's Revenge Alibaba's Revenge
Egyptian jazz. The verse riff is played on a Godin Glissentar which has a nice fretless sound. Got a tabla sample for percussion. The acoustic guitar solo's are done with a Ovation guitar tuned to open C. Inspired by John McLaughlin's Shakti.
Convergence Convergence
One of my favorite tracks. Opening chord riff is funky and moves. I enjoy playing this one on a Telecaster which seems easier to play using my fingers to pluck the chords. Something about the bridge/string height/string spacing.
Island Paradise Island Paradise
The last song I recorded while living in Los Angeles. Inspired by my decision to move back home to Hilo, Hawaii.
Silk Road Silk Road
This song was inspired my Pat Metheny's Across The Heartland. Though it sounds nothing like it and is NO WAY up to that level.
My newest project and best work to date. I'm a big fan of Allan Holdsworth and Al Di Meola. I've been writing instrumental rock pieces for a few years now and got tired of playing solo's/melodies in one key. So with the help of my great friend and bass player extraordinaire Eric Harris, I started writing and recording more hi-tech,progressive and jazzy pieces. What started out as a side project turned out to be a full fledged jazz cd. Lots of chord/key changes and I melodically articulate each chord one by one. So you never loose track of the key center no matter how many key/chord changes I go through. Complex chord changes and melodies but I keep the melody line very friendly. So these tracks are very easy to listen to. I also applied my Chillout influence so these songs have a great vibe/groove. I hope you like these tracks as much as I enjoyed working on them.Allan Holdsworth, Al Di Meola,Chick Corea, Fusion Jazz,Frank Gambale,Bill Bruford,Jeff Berlin,UK,Stanley Clarke,Lenny White,Return To Forever,Bill Connors.Fender 1985 Japanese Stratocaster, Frankenstein Stratocaster with Floyd Rose,Boss ME-50,Roland VS-1880,DBX 166A Stereo Compressor/Limiter,Art Studio V3 Preamp.
