GeeS
Drugs Drugs
song I first heard in high school and thought who is this band, who wrote it and how freaking good was it - found out pretty soon it was David Byrnes Talking Heads and my musical world would never be the same...that's not my beautiful house..
End Game End Game
'end game' starts where 'proving ground' finishes...nu goth song by myself and Bruce with a bit of a soundtrack sort of vibe going on in and around it - it'll be on the Ep with 2 other new tracks
Classified Classified
new power pop song which embraces the sound of last century - sort of sigue sigue sputnik tamed, lol (well, at least they charted...haha!)
MAN&MACHINE MAN&MACHINE
totally written and mixed with the intent of doing a song in the style of Gary Numan (circa '81, his 'Dance' period - think 'she's got claws' as opposed to anything prior)
The Chain The Chain
did this cover about 2 years ago when I kept suggesting we do 'Tusk'...lol! and we never did do 'Tusk' btw...lol, so much for it being my 'band' haha!
No Second Prize No Second Prize
Jimmy Barnes wrote and released this track in 1984 with Bob Clearmountain (the 'go to' producer) doing his magic on it for a 1985 US release - one of our fave Barnsey tracks of all time and cool to have chance to cover it with the fellas!
Give it Up Give it Up
good band song with all of us on it, John, myself, Rick and Gary and special treat to have Richard Groce on 12-string guitar (Richard's a great musician and I used this piece of his as intro to our rocker which follows)
John Matteson /collab Rick Smerage /collab Classic Rock
and so what if we as a species cease to exist and so what if we as a species cease to exist
some questions don't have answers and some answers don't need to be questioned...
Fame (FunkyMIX) Fame (FunkyMIX)
Gary suggested we do Fame after we'd finished Rebel Rebel, which we did (an Industrial version - heavy MIX) but I thought there could (or should) be a funky version as well so Bruce and myself set about doing that.
OnlyRock&Roll OnlyRock&Roll
great rock out with the fellas (John and Bruce) and very fortunate to have Matt K give us some of his trademark shredding for sure! He and John are amazing guitarists!
Nobody Home Nobody Home
perhaps the most revealing and honest song ever penned by Roger (and he wrote a lot of those types of songs...)
Handbags & Gladrags Handbags & Gladrags
We did this 'glam folk' version of the old Mike d'Abo song (Rod Stewart recorded the penultimate version back in the day)
Comfortably Numb Comfortably Numb
if Roger Waters had not made music his profession the world would have missed out on a lot...a lot...to measure the effect and influence that he and his band PF had on generations of fans and musicians is IMO not an easy task...lol!
Fame (HeavyMIX) Fame (HeavyMIX)
did several Bowie covers with Gary - this is one of our faves as we went for an industrial 'nine inch nails' type feel/vibe - this song can be funky and it can also be heavy....
Gimme Shelter Gimme Shelter
we wanted this cover to sound like us yet still capture the true essence of the song, which is impending doom...the Stones always had attitude unlike any other...
Starman Starman
new mix of 'starman', which Gary and myself have done as a tribute to Bowie with a deliberate 'unplugged' version of which we both thought could work.
Go Your Own Way (2025) Go Your Own Way (2025)
definitive pop song by Buckingham featured on definitive Lp of exceptionally cool songs...our homage to him and his band.
Recital Recital
song we did with deliberate aim of writing in the style of Rog Waters (rock god hero to both of us, maybe not so much Rick, you'd have to ask him!)
