"Chalice" is a ministry of The Well Ministries that is a group of singers and musicians whose desire is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ anywhere they can. They sing and play various styles of music including Praise and Worship, Contemporary Christian, Southern Gospel, Traditional Hymns, Worship Choruses along with Original Compositions.
All the members of the group are born again, spirit-filled believers and share a common desire to help others experience the presence of God. Each program is more than entertainment but a worship experience. An altar call and prayer time are offered at the conclusion of each program.
"Chalice" is able to lead Praise and Worship for most Worship Services if needed. They are also available to sing for Nursing Homes, Church Picnics and Events, Banquets, Concerts, Revivals, Weddings and more.
Although Chalice is located in McKeesport, PA area (which is Southwestern PA near Pittsburgh) they are willing to travel wherever God leads.
The current members of "Chalice" are: vocalist, Lou Rhoades along with vocalists and instrumentalists, Kris Rhoades playing keyboard and flute, Keith Szirmae playing classical guitar, and Gary Coddington on accoustic or electric guitar, usually the one on the lead guitar part.
The vocal parts are rotated according to songs but the most common is Kris: Lead/Alto; Lou: Tenor/Lead; Keith: Lead/Tenor/Bass; Gary: Bass
"Chalice" was started in March 2000 with 3 members, Lou and Kris Rhoades and Pastor Bob Fagin who were also the Worship Team at The First Church of the Open Bible in McKeesport, PA. In July 2001 we added Gary Coddington. In January 2004, Pastor Bob resigned and in February 2004 we added Keith Szirmae.
In December 2001, we released our first recording, "A Christmas to Remember" with the title track written by Kris Rhoades. Our second recording, "Basking in the Light" with praise and worship style music released in July 2002; the title track was written by Pastor Bob Fagin. Our third recording, "Fill My Cup" with traditional hymns, released in July 2004. Our next recording, "Fill My Cup, Volume 2" also with traditional hymns, is scheduled to release in the Spring 2005.
As a group of musicians as well as vocalists, all our music is played live. This is especially important when doing worship services to have moments of quiet meditation and freedom in worship.
Of course, our greatest influence is Jesus Christ. Our desire is to see more people come to a closer relationship with Him.
