CeCee considers herself nothing if not a student of music as a language. Her formal studies of music were well rooted in public school music as early as elementary school. After discovering an innate talent and understanding of music, she went on to pursue an education in instrumental studies at one of New York City’s premier arts High Schools, Fiorello H. LaGuardia H.S. For Music & Art and Performing Arts. The school from which the well-known movie FAME was inspired. After completing a dual education in Jazz and Classical instrumental performance there, Cecee went on to incorporate contemporary music into her studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where in addition to daytime studies in Music Business Management/ Music Education, she also pursued an after hours education in mix production, song-writing and vocal performance. During the course of her studies she has been featured in a variety of media outlets including the New York Times, CBS, ABC, Oxygen, Thirteen and Fox networks as an instrumentalist. She also appears in the critically acclaimed educational series “Jazz” by Ken Burns as performer and speaker. Her career as a multi instrumentalist has been marked by a number of performances along side the likes of Frank Foster, Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Watson, and Jon Faddis and has been continued into her vocal career with performances along side artists such as Dawkins & Dawkins, Puff Daddy, and Lynette Hawkins-Stephens. In keeping with her stellar beginnings as the multi instrumentalist CeCee boasts a solid vocal ability that has been described as “rich and lusty with a refreshing ability to change and be shaped by a song”. Now, as a budding producer, songwriter, and seasoned performer, her career has been a diverse one with roots in jazz and classical music and a love of contemporary soul...
Cassandra Wilson, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, India Arie, Jill Scott, Amel Larrieux, D'Angelo.... The list is really too long to go through...
