SoundworldA.D.
My first song on SoundClick! A rough mix based from the Catalyst v.1 combi collection for the Korg OASYS. Also starring are a distorto-lead feedback guitar from the Roland V-Synth and various other sound EFX from the Soundworld.
That Indian vocal on the V-Synth GT sent this one in a totally different direction from which it started with another great OASYS Catalyst 1 combi. Things like that happen sometime late at night in the Soundworld!
A practice track to demo the 'Vitar', a JD990 beast that is half electric violin, and half guitar. The guide track is one of the few appearances of the Triton I have on tape.
I think there are 3 JD990's humming along on this 1994 rough mix.
I was probably heavily influenced by the Shadowfax tune 'Oasis' on this one. The timing is waaayyy off, but it just bristles with energy!
The exact same Wavestation groove as 'Starters', but slowed down and with dual JD990 leads (one of them tortured beyond belief!)
Three part tribute to keyboardist and electric violin master Eddie Jobson. This one was influenced by the UK and Zinc/Green Album era.
This one is affectionately dedicated to the late Nick Webb of Acoustic Alchemy. The English duo always loved playing at the Caravan Of Dreams in Forth Worth, Texas. Rest in peace sweet prince.
Smoke rings that turn into Tall Ships...yeah, that's the ticket! Dream on Gandie!
The trusty and loyal Samwise Gamgee is faced with a real dilemma after rescuing poor mister Frodo from Shelob but losing him to the Orc's! A fitting cliffhanger to end "The Two Towers."
Version 2 with a synth bass added. While searching for an anvil sound, I found that "Orc Factory" effect on the Korg Wavestation. The name of that synth patch is called "Far From Earth." How appropriate! ;-)
Those two loveable pranksters are at it again...whether accidentally setting off Gandalf's cache of fireworks or marching headlong into Isengard with Treebeard, I tried to capture their mischief and adventurous spirit!
Another inspired by LOTR. Goldberry is the wife of Tom. And Tom? Why, Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow; bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow. One of my favourite chapters in the Fellowship.
From the OASYS combi of the same name, an accidental stuck note on some KARMA scenes yielded a Led Zeppelin'esque drone that just fit the tune perfectly. That wail sound is supposed to be a dinosaur, but in my Imaginary World, it's a Nazgul!
A tribute to one of my favourite Rock bands from the 70's. This OASYS combi was just too fun to pass up!
More twists and turns than a washing machine thanks to a cool OASYS KARMA groove replete with tricky wavesequencing and nifty panning effects. Best enjoyed with headphones.
In Genesis 37-45, Jacob's son Joseph, after coming to great power in Egypt, demonstrates a dazzling display of affection, forgiveness and mercy as he welcomes and cares for the very brothers who sold him into slavery.
A pulse-driven smorgasbord of meandering time signatures and beats, with a hearty mix of major, minor and suspended chords thrown in for good measure.
Inspired by and based on some of those great mid-80's MD band performances in Europe where the Maestro would let his bandmates just jam out. This one is dedicated to bassist extraordinaire Darryl Jones who was always my favourite.
