Aura June
Aura June originally started as a group called "Paint The Sky" evolving as a foursome, and consisting of four young musicians with musical backgrounds ranging from country and pop, later moving into the psychedelic music of Pink Floyd, Beatles, Boston ,Rush as well as Yes and The Doors.
The boys went on to experiment different genres of music and were named "The ambassadors of the French language" as all four members were raised French Canadians and toured as a group named "Ciel".
Marc Robitaille, the bass player includes a variety of musical instruments as he plays the organ, accordion, and gradually drifted into a well rounded bass player, thanks to Chris Squire from YES.
Roger Loiselle, grew up in a musical family and was taught Beatle chords as well as vocal harmonies ,being his first love.
From here they renamed themselves "Aura June" and played several venues across the Niagara Region with the following of Floyd and Beatle lovers.
The group began to record original four track recordings, crafting their sound using an Ovation Acoustic guitar, Fender Strat lead guitar, a Rickenbacher Bass, and Pearl Drums.
A harmonic vocal range developed in which helped evolve today's Brit-Pop sound.
The foursome drifted into a twosome named "The Aurijinal Junes" consisting of Roger and Marc playing open-mic acoustic local venues which helped craft their unique Beatle-esque sound.
During this progression, playing cold winter nights in bars and honing their new forthcoming Demo CD, the Junes were both approached by a seasoned blues drummer (Bruce Aitken), who sat in one night with the group and seemed to fit in perfectly. We have recently welcomed a new member Mike Baker to join us for a new improved sound as we are preparing our new live CD!
Aura June are in the writing stage of a new CD and will be performing live at many well known Festivals and Bars in the upcoming summer months (2011).
