"At 15 He plans to make 2009 his year"
While many upstate and old school legends are saying that the south is killing hip-hop, younger artists are still bringing in new fresh sounds to the music industry. One of them happens to be YungDynasty born Nicholas J. Whiting, he quickly adapted the name in 2006. Growing up in the state of North Carolina for most of life, he had to grow up quickly and was a straight A student, having to take guidance from his family he took most from his uncles and his grandparents. He took close guidance from 2 of his uncles. Around that time I was real young and they were my biggest heroes. I wanted to be just like them, when they moved out, the people he always looked up to wasnt there, Thats where my grandma came in, she cared allot about me and didnt want me to grow up wrong. He showed skills in drums and he would bang on anything he could find. They brought me a drum set but it was no match for me. He kept music in his heart and never lost passion for it. Being the new generation allot of teens are starting to take over and take hip-hop to new level. Taking control of the music scene with new styles of music and new fashions and new trends to go along with it. In my opinion were the new generation, it passes down them to us from the 70s to 2008 the world has went through all types of shit, Allot of older people say were messing it up but look at us, look at the trends and all the new shit we brought in, thats what its all about making your own style. Growing up in the south he always connected to southern rappers but early on had the upstate on his mind. Taking notes from rappers like Jay-Z ,50,Nas, and more he started rapping at an early age of 8. Me and my friends and my family would do little shit, you know just play around with it. He really got inspiration from Kanye West and Jay-Z. Jay-Z was and still is my favorite rapper, i took inspiration from all his albums and his business style, i wanted to do just like that. YD was started taking inspiration from legends all around and it was influencing him musically wise. My mom was into the old school stuff so at times I would listen to her cds. Pretty soon his interest turned down south and so did his rap style. Fate hit when him and his cousin Tim aka Super fresh of the YungSouljas, entered 6th grade together. Me Tim, Si, Aj, and all the boys used to rap ever since 4th grade, but around that time we started getting serious. Tim and Nick hit their school up with little freestyle type songs every class period and on the bus home. We made up little shit like Cotton Candy and even made up a nursery rhyme type shit Sesame Street and it just kept growing we would do this everyday on the bus and we kept our crowds entertained we was young man, we was just crunk and thats how I learned how to really grab peoples attention. Pretty soon they developed more than just a freestyle they inspired an epidemic. The whole school was trying to create little rap groups. I started to notice it and I was like damn lets just go with it. Starting out doing songs without paper he would just make up songs out loud. Weeks came after months and his click would take chances anytime they could. We would all get on the same bus for field trips and everybody would go, you would get challenged and if you didnt go man it was no hope for yoass , youd better be the one bringing the food supplying the click. Years later they evolved into new levels each year they got better. I remember my cousin Si of the YungSouljas, he would inspire me with his rhymes and so would the everybody around me, I took notes from people good and bad its how I learned to remake songs and write my own. At Christmas 2006 his mom brought him a keyboard, after seeing him playing music on it at wall-mart. I had a whole crowd around my lil cousin and me Markel aka DJ Bullet they was going crazy and that just inspired me to produce my own songs. With time he got better and developed a great rapper with all the good qualities. How to write-produce-manage-promote himself. The following year he received a brand-new laptop from his grandma. They would always try to get me something special besides clothes and games and bikes and shit like that. That's where he got access to the Internet and began his career as YungDynasty. Entering East Carteret High School he entertained and proved that the school would remember his name.I ended up downloading programs to record and make beats on, everything came together. After months he gained attention on Myspace and Soundclick and other sites. I put myself on a whole list of sites and created my own; I felt that if I put myself out there, I would get discovered. Look at all these new artists like Souljaboy-Lil Josh & Ernest and the list goes on, I feel like if I just keep working on it 1 day Ima make it big Still not signed he is currently working on singles and his music career, along with keeping up with his grades in high school. He's not new to the school at all. "Me and some other people were talking and i don't remember how, but I ended up saying they should call me BigDickNick and everybody went crazy, It was a joke but the whole entire school got a hold of it and I was ok with it because it was all good, and people still remember that, so I know how to do that with music too"
