I Run This Shit I Run This Shit
Teetering on the edge of underground Hip-Hop and
mainstream rap, Yung Cassius' goal in the industry is to gain respect from the true Hip-Hop heads while garnering commercial success in order to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams and take care of his family.
Band/artist history
Yung Cassius was born on November 18, 1979 in Queens,NY and raised by his mother Michelle James in the Southeast section of the Bronx. Rather than follow the crowd, this young slick-talker started rapping at the age of ten while
many of his peers were still riding their BMX bikes on the ghetto blocks.
Cassius attended Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx where he sharpened his skills and gained respect from his peers by winning battles between classes and on the streets of the Bronx. He performed at numerous talent shows throughout New York such as Mad Wednesdays at Esos in Manhattan and various shows in the Hamptons. He also gained exposure when he performed with Stick in the Hoods who had the hit single "Shake Whatcha Momma Gave Ya."
In the spring of 1998, Cassius enrolled at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC where he majored in Business Management. Later that year, he was labeled one of the best MCs in North Carolina by Blaze magazine. He decided
to take a temporary leave of absence from college to pursue his promising music career.
Yung Cassius started up the now infamous Hotbloc Productions with his partners M.O.S. and Ill Phil. Ill Phil went on to produce 12 tracks on Cassius' upcoming debut album Society's Ills which generated a song that posted 13th on the
Billboard charts.
