Slave Blues Slave Blues

Blues rock number - more than a little tongue- in-cheek, but a good excuse to shout out 'gee-tar'! Just messin' about really.

Second Coming Second Coming

About the second coming of Christ and how difficult it would be for him to prove that he was the son of God in this milti-media age.

Rock General

WhaleBoy is usually one person (but sometimes more) with a passion for music of many different genres. The current songs are being recorded under the title of "E.S.A. - Eclectic Sonic Aspirations" as this sums up the approach. Most artists gravitate to one genre or another and very rarely wade the water to a different style. WhaleBoy is about the freedom to write an acoustic love song one week and an industrial metal opus the next. True "Mood Music" is something that enhances the listener - be it to amuse, inspire, comfort or agitate. Clearly, WhaleBoy doesn't play guitar like Jimi Hendrix or sing like Sam Cooke, but still delights in all aspects of the creative process. The fact that technology now allows him to present the results for others to hear is a bonus! I hope you find something to enjoy ...
Band/artist history
WhaleBoy has been writing songs for many years, but has only recently mastered the technology for decent quality digital recording. Music has always been an essential part of life.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
WhaleBoy are currently a "kitchen table" band concept!
Your musical influences
Musical influences don't always mean that the end result sounds like the original source. The main influence to first pick up a guitar (when I was about 15) was Pete Townshend doing an acoustic version of Pinball Wizard at the Secret Policeman's Ball. Hendrix doing 15 minutes of Voodoo Chile blew my mind, Matt Johnson singing "trying so hard to please myself I was turning into somebody else", or Kurt Cobain "I Found it hard, it's hard to find, oh well, whatever, nevermind". All of them are influences, but what comes out at the end is just what is inside the arranger. You have little control and that's what makes it so exciting.
What equipment do you use?
Gibson, Squire, Vintage, Tokai, Santos Martinez and Tanglewood guitars and basses, Marshall and Line 6 Amps and sofware, Fruityloops and Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro to record.
