VYNDYKATOR! The Power Metal/Horror Masters of the underground Metal World. The band features members of Attacker, Matriarch and Alchemy X!
Band/artist history
Borrowing from seminal influences like Judas Priest, Accept and Iron Maiden, VYNDYKATOR fuses these old-school NWOBHM sounds with the progressiveness of Rush, Mercyful Fate, and Savatage. The result is a classic metal sound that is equal parts thrash and power. Guitarists Rob Oriani and Bill Pena (each on 7 string guitar) contribute outstanding rhythm and lead work, and display the dual guitar attack missing from most of today's metal bands. Bassist Steve Ratchen (7 string bass) and new Drummer John "JC" Cona give VYNDYKATOR a rhythm section any band would be proud to boast, and when one listens to their debut album "Heaven Sent from Hell", traces of prog, thrash, neo-classical, and speed metal are evident in the impressive musicianship. The band displays a nice balance of melodic songwriting coupled with technical proficiency. As for Mitchell, his vocal style, piercing and intense, has lost none of it's early power and has aged like fine wine. Effortlessly balancing hell-bent growls with piercing screams and even harmonies, Mitchell sings like a vocalist perfectly plying his trade within the metal milieu.
Lyrically, VYNDYKATOR have disassociated themselves from the "Dungeons and Dragons" theme prominent in modern Metal music, preferring to delve into a terror and fright oriented subject venue. "Heaven Sent from Hell" is actually an homage to horror film legend Bela Lugosi, each song referencing a particular character played by him throughout his famed career. These aspects have solidified VYNDYKATOR as an electrifying live act, as well as formidable studio recording artists.
VYN's Power thrasher "Rot In The Chamber" was featured on two compilation CD samplers entitled "METAL OSTENTAION THREE" and 'METAL CRUSADE FIVE". The band's Doom Metal crusher "Tapping The Vein" was featured on a CD sampler that was packaged with the book "ROCKDETECTOR A-Z of POWER METAL" by Gary Sharpe Young (Cherry Red Publishing, Inc. 2003).
"HSFH" is now availble on Classic Vinyl through the New York based independant label OUTLAW RECORDINGS. The Picture Disc Version is no longer available thus now making it a true collectors item. The CD version can be found through UNISOUND RECORDS with its headquarters residing in Athens, Greece or through Metal Distributors world-wide!
Currently, The Horror Metalists are in the midst of their writing stage for their follow-up to "Heaven Sent From Hell". Fans and critics world wide have embraced HSFH and have deemed it an "Instant Classic". It goes without saying that the album was certainly, perhaps arguably, the surprise release of 2003! Sources close to the band reveal that the new material promises to be even heavier than its debut. With titles such as "Penetration Overdose" and "I Am Sinn", it establishes the fact that the next Vyn album will be the equivalent of a raging jauggernaut. Their next opus will be titled, tentatively, "The Chromium Underground"with a projected realease date for 2004! The band are currently in negotiations with several record labels in search of a recording contract/licensing deal. There are also negotiations with VYN to participate in several US Festivals and possible European Festivals in 2004.
The journey continues.........

Have you performed in front of an audience?
Since the formation, VYNDYKATOR have concentrated on performing, to which they quickly earned their reputation as a great live act. In between performances and extensive rehearsal sessions, VYNDYKATOR recorded their debut album entitled "Heaven Sent From Hell" between February and May of 2002. Vyndykator concentrates on playing festivals, though they do manage to pull off select local performances in the NY-Metro area occasionally for fans who can't get to see them otherwise. The band has done nothing but solidify their reputation as an electrifying live act over the years, which, even recently, has culminated in their still talked about appearances in the high profile "Classic Metalfest 2" in Cleveland, OH (2002) and "Classic Metal Fest 3" in Chicago, IL (2003). Just to illustrate our point, here are some LIVE SHOW reviews:

METAL MANIACS MAGAZINE (OCTOBER 2003)
CLASSIC FEST THREE 2003 Friday, June 27th & Saturday, June 28th
Oasis One-Sixty in Chicago Heights, IL
"...Bob Mitchell's other band Vyndykator (much heavier than Alchemy-X) played Day Two and once again Mitchell proved that his vocals are one of a kind as his deafening vocal wails meshed finely with the triumphant swirl of heavy metal goodness that his band has to offer. He also made the announcement that Attacker is reforming and recording a new album, Man, I am so excited. Attacker's Battle At Helm's Deep is one of my all-time faves from the 80s...."

Next up was New Jersey's Vyndykator. This band has a singer with nuclear power lungs! "Vokillist" Bob Mitchell (also with Alchemy X) must be heard to be believed.

VYNDYKATOR busted out of the gates playing every song on their debut and unlike last years set when I was just in awe, this year I could actually sing along, but even my crappy singing wasn't enough to stop these guys from sounding good. Even a few technical problems couldn't do that. They even finished off the night with Savatage's "The Dungeons are Calling", talk about a band having to balls to pick a hidden gem to cover. I don't think I ever remember the original song sounding so heavy and dark.

THE METAL CRYPT WEBZINE (JULY 2003)
Classic Metal Festival III
June 27, 28, 2003
Oasis 160, Chicago Heights, IL
Next came Bob Mitchell's other band, Vyndykator. Once again smiling during the whole set, Bob was a crowd pleaser and the band performed an excellent set, ending with a cover of Savatage's "The Dungeons are Calling", which drove the audience nuts.
