As a child, my life revolved around the stage. Performance infused some sanity into my insanely confusing bubble. But, I never really thought about singing until I joined my school's choir at the age of 8. That was the only real vocal training I got. Many years later, I had forgotten about singing in general until I picked up my first Portishead album. It was at that point that I realized the power and importance of vocal experimentation.
My musical inspirations: Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, Fiona Apple, Massive Attack, Poe, The Peak Show, Alanis Morissette (I spent my teens in the 90s!), and of course, gho5t.
I have always loved music, ever since I was able to turn the tuning knob on our old radio I have wanted to be a part of it, it helps you deal with the sad times and enjoy the good times all the more. I went on to play the guitar for most of my adult life and still enjoy it today, but my main musical outlet has become composing music through a digital means, mostly influenced now by triphop & 1920's-30's jazz and my love of the imagery of city life.
My musical inspirations: Massive Attack, Watch the Men Fall, Lamb, Tricky, Portishead, Black Devils Orch, Hellfighters Band, Muggsy Spanier's Ragtimers, and many many more - not the least of which is my favourite singer Lar who inspires the music I compose and who Vox would not exist without.Have you performed in front of an audience?Not as yet, we are currently residing in 2 different countries, as we polish up our act and look to get signed to a record label we will start to focus on joining up and getting out to some venues
Your musical influences
Our influences are from right across the spectrum but our main ones would have to be Massive Attack, Portishead, Lamb, The Peak Show, Tricky, all the greats from the triphop world that bring melody and style to the music worldWhat equipment do you use?
Currently we are just using the resources available to us, namely inexpensive items like our computers, midi keyboard, mike's e.t.c. As money becomes less of a problem I'm sure the list will growContact
