On Distant Shore On Distant Shore
Written by a friend for his wife on their anniversary. Arranged by Vince Boston
Voices Unlimited! is a new local Tucson group that specializes in a cappella. That is, we use no instruments. All of the music we make is with our voices. We are a mixed (3 female, 2 male) contemporary a cappella group, singing jazz, pop, rock, doo-wop, gospel, oldies and new stuff, drawing inspiration from groups as diverse as the Manhattan Transfer, Rockapella, and the Beatles.

History of Voices Unlimited
Voices Unlimited! started in January 2000. Vince Boston had arrived in Tucson from Orange County, California to take an engineering position with Bombardier/Learjet a year earlier. Vince had tried to find an a cappella group to join but not finding any, decided to join the Tucson Sunshine Barbershop Choir. That's where he met up with fellow California transplant Bob Landry. Vince and Bob shared an interest in close harmony singing and decided to start their own group. They put fliers up at the University of Arizona, Pima Community College, and anywhere else that singers might congregate.
After holding auditions they found their first soprano, Lois Harris, who was also a member of local group WomanSong. Next came alto Denise Smith, who was a former member of an all girl's a cappella group: Vocal Point. After a few more personnel changes and auditions, they hit pay dirt and found soprano Kira
Gerasimon who also worked for Bombardier/Learjet. About a week later came baritone-tenor Jordan Brown, answering an ad placed in the Tucson Weekly.
Bob and Lois eventually left the group, pursuing other interests, leaving the group a quartet.
After several more exhaustive auditions, the group is now a quintet with the addition of 2nd soprano Jen Miller.Your musical influences

Thank you for the compliments! It was fun arranging and recording this song. More to come!

On Distant Shore I could definatly see as a main title or end credit peice for some epic movie. It is beautifully preformed and exceptionally well sung with amazing voices. My only only suggestion is to get the choir harmony working a bit better when it comes in. It just seems a little bit out of tune, but thaty could just be me. Anyway I'd love to hear more tracks like this.
