Hi,
Thank You for taking an interest in Vermin & the Beachrat, my name is Joe Lamore and I'm from Sudbury, MA. My main interest are music, sports, family, and friends.
Well lets see, I started out on the accordion in 2nd grade, I wanted to play the drums but my parents told me if I saved up for the drum set I could then get one. I don't think they wanted to listen to me banging drums yet. In the 4th grade I had saved enough money to buy a drum set, it was a 5 piece set with 2 cymbals and a hi-hat. My first Live Audience experience was at 12 years old playing with a band from Maynard, MA. We played in a Battle of the Bands at Wayland, High School. There were 12 bands in the contest and we came in 2nd or 3rd.
I moved to Sudbury, MA. in 1968 and quickly made many friends, my friend Scott asked me one day if I would play in another band with some of our friends. My Mom had been taking me to practice in Maynard, MA. each week, and would also help me load and unload my drums. I thought this would be a lot closer and my Mom wouldn't have to drive me every week.
I soon learned that there were 3 drummers that would sit in here and there, all friends, then one day Scott said " we have plenty of drummers, want to learn how to play guitar ?
I got my first guitar at 14, it was a CORT and really hard to play, I would practice making chords and strumming until one of my fingers would bleed. One day Scott said " You need a real guitar " we went to see Fran Caruso at the Sudbury Music Store, Fran was great and I traded in my Cort for an Aria semi hollow body guitar. It was like a dream to play and I learned quickly.
It's always a thrill playing in front of an audience, before I go on to play I'm always nervous with some type of butterflies, once I start playing everything works out fine.
One time playing at The Hitchin Post in Marlboro, MA. with " Beachrats " they had reached their capacity inside and the outside area was also filled. They ran out of beer for the first time ever, our friends started selling beers in the parking lot. It was a night to remember.
Well my first influence would have to be The Beatles, I remember sneaking downstairs when I was 8 years old to see them on The Ed Sullivan Show. My other Influences would be: Led Zepplin, David Bowie, John Lennon, and Elvis Presley.
I play mostly Solo Acoustic Sets now, here is the equipment that I use.
Guitars: 2005 Martin X Acoustic/Electric, 2001 Carvin Cobalt 980T Jumbo Acoustic
PA Amplifier: ALTO Professional Tower
Effects: Boss Harmonizer for vocals, BBE Sonic Maximizer for Guitars
So that's it right up till present time, being a song writer you can't help doing it, the melody just pops into your head over and over, and then words start to form. It will keep playing inside of you until I can finish the song, then one day it all starts again.
Thank You for interest in Vermin & the Beachrat ( Joe Lamore )
