Hearing Springsteen's Thunder Road in the early eighties inspired me to pick up the guitar ("...and I learned how to make it talk"). Simultaneously, having grown up on country music, I was influenced by the artists and songwriters coming out of Nashville. I began writing songs almost immediately with the goal of having the same emotional impact on listeners that my favorite songs always have on me. It's a never ending quest, I haven't written my best song yet.

Lyrics
Daddy's Garden Seventeen years old At my junior prom Stood alone in a corner Wishing that I’d never come No one asked me to dance I was awkward and shy I ran home with tears on my cheeks And told Daddy, he just smiled Pre-chorus He said "well honey that's their loss" And took me out beneath the stars Chorus And we danced in Daddy's garden Where the whole world seemed right Full of beauty, full of promise There was hope, there was light, in Daddy's garden Verse 2 Whenever I had a problem I knew I'd find him there A gentle man, such gentle hands Singing softly, tending with care Pre-chorus Every year on my birthday I'd get a single red rose Chorus: A rose from Daddy's garden Where the whole world seemed right Full of beauty, full of promise There was hope, there was light, in Daddy's garden Bridge: One man waits down the aisle One’s still by my side The music starts His arm slips into mine Chorus: And we walk through Daddy's garden Oh the whole world seems right Full of beauty, full of promise There is hope, there is light, in Daddy's garden (repeat chorus) © 2004 Rick Robertson
