Story behind the song
December 31 and January 1, 2002. This is my latest song, completed only yesterday. I remixed it again this morning to enhance the separation of the acoustic and electric rhythm guitars. I am very proud of this one. The tune is actually 99.9% the same as Behind a Minivan. I was remixing all of my older songs for this “anthology”, when I got to Minivan. I was looking for the original lyrics I wrote for the song that I never added. I couldn’t find them so I decided to try and re-write as best I could. While listening to the acoustic rhythm guitar part alone, the new “country” groove appeared to my off the cuff lyrics I made up as I went along, “Hey mister smelled you coming down the road...” I liked the sound and it was a complete change in context from the original Minivan. I continued to work on the words and re-recorded all parts from scratch. The solo replaces the original Minivan solo, which I thought at the time of the original recording, was my best to date. I enjoyed trying to finds a light, bouncy solo to fit the tongue in cheek, goofy lyrics
